Dealing with PFAS within drinking water testing and treating, now that it’s been identified as a contaminant of high concern, has become more complex and costly. The Georgia Rural Wastewater Association recently made their membership aware of a fund created to help Georgia public water systems with the expanding costs. This is a time-sensitive fund, applications need to be in before the end of 2025.

Below is the letter (download as a PDF) with details on how Georgia public water utilities can apply for funds to help test for and mitigate PFAS.

Re: PFAS Cost Recovery Obligations and Assistance

Public water systems must test for PFAS and institute programs to filter PFAS starting now.

MDL 2873 was a lawsuit against the responsible polluters for starting the global PFAS contamination crisis. A $13 Billion Dollar fund was created to help public water systems meet their obligations regarding PFAS but the opportunity vanishes at the end of 2025.

This fund does not automatically pay systems. To get the funding a system must do specific testing for 29 PFAS varieties and use a qualified and acceptable lab. Systems above microscopic minimum levels are eligible but still must complete the enrollment and participation process. Our team helps at no upfront cost.

We help through the entire process and if testing comes back as safe and below participation levels the
tested system owes us nothing. Again – systems must act now and those that do not will never be able to make claim against the polluters who started the PFAS global emergency.

Systems simply allow PFAS testing to which we arrange with an approved lab and then we take care
of and maximize the claim process. Systems that enroll in our no risk program save on testing costs,
can be certain testing was done correctly and that their claims have been maximized.

All Public Drinking Water Utilities are urged to sign up. We then test your water at no cost and systems with positive results receive their maximum share of the settlement money.

We are available to discuss further details by phone and to answer any questions regarding participation in the PFAS recovery program.
