June 23, 2025 – Kentucky American Water has announced several additional water main improvement projects this summer, with more to come. As part of the company’s ongoing commitment to providing safe, clean and reliable water service, the company is investing approximately $9.1 million in water main upgrades in Lexington on Arrowhead Ct., Georgetown Rd., Lackawanna Rd., Longview Dr., Wabash Dr., and North Limestone between New Circle Road and E. Sixth Street.
These projects involve replacing aging cast iron water mains with new, ductile iron pipes as part of the company’s Qualified Infrastructure Program (QIP). This work will improve service reliability for customers by reducing service disruptions as well as by maintaining and improving water quality. The projects also include replacing fire hydrants, valves, meters and utility-owned service lines along the pipeline routes.
The company’s contractor crews generally work Monday through Friday during daytime hours as weather and other factors permit. For the public’s and workers’ safety, traffic restrictions and/or alternating traffic patterns may occur during work hours. Kentucky American Water values the safety of its workers and advises drivers and pedestrians to take caution in the vicinity of work sites.
