A facility was looking to budget a large structure cleaning, but wasn’t sure where to start. In this mini-case study, see how SediVision’s assessment technology delivers detailed data, helping utilities managers, operators, and engineering teams make informed maintenance decisions.

Big Facilities, Big Cleaning Budgets: Where to begin?

Location:

14 MGD Facility in Northeast Florida

Problem:

A 14 MGD wastewater treatment facility needed information on what was in their treatment tanks to justify tank maintenance as part of an ongoing expansion. This series of treatment tanks are 28,000 square feet. Without a details on what’s happening inside this large structure, the facility was looking at creating an extensive and costly cleaning budget.

How SediVision Helped:

SediVision found 1,362.4 cubic yards of material and a total loss of process volume of 9.5% across the entire set of treatment tanks. Across the entire system, SediVision mapped volume losses ranging from 6.6% – 21.1% in each of the structures. The facility now had a data-driven picture of what was happening inside the treatment tanks.

Outcome:

This information gave the utility and its engineers the information needed to create a priority-based schedule for this large structure cleaning and better allocate budget where it was needed most. In addition to scheduling and budgeting improvements, the data also aided in determining areas where online cleaning was appropriate before the drain down phase to remove any remaining debris, reducing offline time.
