Protect and Preserve Florida’s Living Waters – Earth Day Student Poster Contest – Deadline March 28th
Florida students from across the state are invited to participate in a poster design contest for this year’s April 22nd Earth Day celebration. Florida Department of Environmental Protection has set the theme as “Protect & Preserve Florida’s Living Waters” to highlight the importance of this natural resource to Florida’s environment and communities.
The contest is open to all Florida students in grades 4-12, but the submission deadline (with completed form) is Friday, March 28, so get submissions sent in soon!
From the Florida DEP Calendar announcement:
This year’s celebration also marks the 50th anniversary of the Florida Aquatic Preserve Act, which has safeguarded Florida’s most treasured aquatic ecosystems for half a century. The first aquatic preserve was established in 1966, and today, there are 43 throughout Florida.
To honor this milestone, DEP invites students in grades 4-12 to participate in the 2025 Earth Day Poster Contest by creating artwork that reflects this year’s theme: “Protect & Preserve Florida’s Living Waters.”

Rules and guidelines for the student poster contest, as well as additional Earth Day activities, challenges, and information can be found on the Florida DEP Earth Day webpage. This page also features other Florida environmental efforts, including the Florida Forever program, which recently gained over 34,000 acres of conservation land. Don’t forget to check out previous poster contest winners. The top selections from each grade group for 2024, 2023, and 2022 are represented.
