A Tribute to Matt Nestor

By Randy Cordrey

Let me start by saying that Matt Nestor was one of the finest human beings I have ever worked with. Our relationship was much deeper than just a boss and a coworker. We always talked about our families– and his kids and my grandchildren. I would send pictures of Preston when he made Student of the Month, and Matt would send one over for Marcos. Matt was so proud of his kids.

I will never forget when we interviewed Matt for the North Territory position. I saw his resume and learned about his previous employer in Jacksonville. I asked him, “How do you like working for your boss?”

Matt said, “Do you know him?”

And I said, “Yes, I do. We worked together at another company back in the days.” Then I told him, “If you can work for that guy, you can work for anybody.”

Bringing Matt on board was one of the best hires our company has ever made. He brought stability to our North Florida territory. He developed or expanded relationships and spread our name throughout his work territory, helping U.S. Submergent Technologies develop a solid reputation in his area.

Matt helped guide us through adversity and challenges. Together, Matt and I went through a corporate rebranding, four general managers, and six or seven different representatives. When Chandler joined the company, Matt took Chandler under his wing and guided him to where he is today. When I think of all we have been through, I will always think of Matt as a leader.

Every time we spoke, Matt would ask, how is the family? We’d exchange pictures of the kids all the time, and he was always concerned about my current health issues and how I was doing.

Matt gave his “all” to this company, and I am forever grateful. I think everyone who worked with him would agree.

In closing, I think of Matt, and I think of the Top Gun movie when Maverick lost his wingman, Goose, and it took a while for Maverick to recover. Well, I feel like I have lost my wingman and leader.

🙏🏼 Matt will always be in my heart, and I pray for his family every day: his wife and their two boys, Marcos and Jacob.
