Part 4 in the US Submergent Technologies Safety Series examines the integral link between safety and efficiency in serving wastewater utilities.

If you’ve been following the U.S. Submergent Technologies Safety Series, you know that we’ve already covered three important tenants of the USST mission and values commitment. In this, the fourth installment of the series, we look at the highly significant role of efficiency in serving the needs of wastewater utilities.

Parts 1-3 in USST Wastewater Services Safety Series

  • INNOVATIVE: When we solve problems using our capabilities, we are safer, faster, and more cost-effective than anyone else.
  • DEPENDABLE: When we show up on time, do what we say, and always follow up.
  • KNOWLEDGABLE: When we learn from our experiences and understand our limits.

As 2022 came to a close, ADP chief economist Nela Richardson assessed national workplace efficiency, saying 2022 was “the first year since 1983 to include three consecutive quarters of year-over-year drops in average productivity per worker.”

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg declared 2023 the year of efficiency, saying it was “the beginning of our focus on efficiency and not the end.”

While big-picture analytics may be important for understanding business from a national perspective or analyzing projections of a mega-corporation, they aren’t the starting point for USST.

When the team at USST says, “We are efficient when we do not waste time,” they are focused on their client continuously. U.S. Submergent Technologies serves in the moment, day in and day out, and gauges its efficiency by the RESULTS it achieves for wastewater utility managers, operators, and engineers.

Business strategists will argue that there is a bell curve of efficiency, with the pursuit of perfection being a stressful and unachievable goal. In fact, accurate analysis of efficiency outputs is complex, and it can and should be measured and evaluated from many perspectives.

But in the day-to-day, when U.S. Submergent Technologies teams are on the job, they are not looking at bell curve analysis, or year-over-year projections. Instead, they are wholeheartedly focused on delivering service that is safe and efficient for their client.

They understand that efficiency and safety are inseparable. They know that focusing on safety is always the most efficient path to accomplishing goals and that their number one goal is client satisfaction.

Efficiency in wastewater services:

  • Enhances worker productivity
  • Reduces or eliminates downtime
  • Improves worker morale
  • Inspires client confidence
  • Brings projects in on time and on budget
  • And are inevitably the safest work environments

At USST, we are efficient (and safe) when we don’t waste our time or our client’s time.
